"Man often becomes what he believes himself to be.  If I
keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it
is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of
doing it.  On the contrary, if I shall have the belief that I can
do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it, even if I
may not have it at the beginning."

Mahatma Gandhi

1. Is Your Dream, Really YOUR Dream?

Many of you know that as a child I was passionate about
dance.  There was nothing I enjoyed doing more.

Lack Of Opportunity

Unfortunately, I was not exposed to many opportunities to
take dance seriously while growing up, but since I was
passionate about dance, I also loved music, and music was
something I did have around me all the time.

As I approached my late teens, like many, I became enticed
by the "glamour" of the music industry.  I wanted to be a
"cool" music industry pro.  This lead me to a degree in audio
engineering.  I ended up becoming very skilled in my work,
but I did not find it fulfilling.  My "dream" to be in the music
industry masqueraded itself as a real dream, while the
things that truly gave me joy were passed off as
impractical or unattainable.

I thought I was going in the right direction but once I
arrived at my destination I realized I was at the wrong one.

Did You Make A Wrong Turn?

Sometimes we are attracted to the "idea" of becoming
something or doing something.  Unfortunately that "dream"
doesn't necessarily involve the things that really make us
happy and fulfilled.  In other words, we "think" we desire
something, but in truth our heart wants something much
different.

For me, I didn't make the connection that the reason I loved
music was really because I loved to dance.  What I really
wanted had nothing to do with being a "cool" music industry
professional.

We all do this to some degree or another.  Our parents tell us
what's good for us, media tells us what will get the attention
of the opposite sex, society tells us what is prestigious.

How Do You Discover What It Is You Really Want?

Sometimes fear drives us, sometimes fantasy, sometimes
status.  What's driving you?  Are you on the right path?  Are
you gaining true satisfaction and enjoyment out of the work
you do or are trying to attain?  Does it use your natural skills,
talents, and disposition?

If not, where would you be going if you could choose a
different path in this very moment?

You Can Get On The Path That's Right For You

This is one of the ways coaching can help your unique and
specific situation.  It can help you to create and devise a plan
to achieve goals and dreams that are aligned with your true
skills, talents, and desires.

If you'd like to get down to the root of what those talents and
skills are and figure out how to get off the road your on and
onto one that's right for you, call me this week and we can
set-up a time to meet and assess your situation.
