"There is no law but love. Love is joy in others. Therefore
it should be out of the question to speak about another
person in a spirit of irritation or vexation. There must
never be talk, either in open remarks or by insinuation,
against anyone, or against their individual characteristics
— and under no circumstances behind their back.
Gossiping in one’s family is no exception. Direct address is
the brotherly or sisterly service we owe anyone whose
weaknesses cause a negative reaction in us. An open
word spoken directly to another person deepens
friendship and will not be resented."

- Eberhard Arnold in “The First Law in Sannerz” (1925)

1. Relationships, Self-Esteem, and a Hopeful Future

Some of you have been reading the newsletter for awhile
and some of you are new to A Balanced Perspective.
Either way, perhaps you have wondered if you could
benefit from the services offered here....and others of you
know that you could...but... procrastination + being busy
squeezes out many of the things you wish you could be
taking advantage of.  This is not a judgement!  :-)  I can
relate.

Who I'm Currently Woking With

Currently I'm primarily working with women, young
professionals, dancers, and some who are retired.  Some
aren't sure what they should be eating, and others know
what they should be eating, but haven't found a way to
stick to that plan.  Most feel good enough about
themselves that they are willing to make changes and do
the work necessary to change the things they don't feel
so great about.  This might be their body image, or
changing their path in life (career, or relationships).  A
few are going through bigger issues like an unexpected
pregnancy, std's, or loss of employment.

Taking Care of Ourselves "Holistically"

To be healthy we need to take care of all parts of
ourselves.  We not only need to eat healthy, but we need
to find intellectual stimulation, emotional fulfillment in our
relationships, enjoyable ways to spend our physical
energy, and excitement and hope for our future.

The women who work with me find balance in these areas
of their life and feel support and validation for why certain
things are working and certain things are not.  More
importantly, we quickly discover what areas need the most
focus and work in order to bring everything else into
balance.  These women also become far more confident
about their food choices and they acquire stronger self-
esteem and comfort in their body through our sessions.

A Tool Available To You

Coaching sessions are a tool that can be used to gain
professional and objective feedback.  It's an opportunity to
also gain knowledge and advice about food and lifestyle,
what has worked and not worked for others when it comes
to sticking to a plan, controling sugar cravings, or staying
balanced in the midst of city life.

THE ABOVE QUOTE

P.S. I encourage you all to check out the quote above.  I
think this is such an important piece of character we
should all aspire to achieve.  Please let me know how it
speaks to you and how you feel you can apply it to a
current situation in your life.

"I thought by going to Melissa I would get a few dieting tips, some
new recipes to try at home, maybe lose 2 or 3 pounds, and walk
away feeling pretty good about myself.  What I received from my
sessions with Melissa was so much more!  Melissa went to the root
of my "troubles" and concerns, she lead me to a place where I could
let go, forgive, and be more proactive about my dreams.  Since
Melissa, I have been dancing and performing more than ever and
feeling much more positive about my life and career.  I sought out
Melissa to lose five pounds yet, in the end, I wound up gaining so
much more than anticipated.  I have filled my life with so much
meaningful matter that craving healthy foods has come naturally and
I desire them in order to support my lifestyle.  My achieved weight
loss ended up being just an added bonus."  -CB, Dancer, NYC
