1. Losing Your SELF in Busyness

"Besides the noble art of getting things done, there is
the noble art of leaving things undone.  The wisdom of
life consists in the elimination of nonessentials."
- Lin Yutang

I know you didn't receive a newsletter from me last week.  A
few of you wrote in and made note of that.  I missed you and
I missed writing A Balanced Perspective.  This thing that I
value so much got pushed under the pile of other deadlines
and projects I was being called to.  Later I discovered it
shouldn't have, but perhaps you wouldn't have this article
today if it hadn't.

Rushing Rushing Rushing

Things have been so busy for me that I have felt behind.  I
have been rushing from project to project, assignment to
meeting, barely having time to feel, think, or reflect on my life.
I became overwhelmed and had to question where my
priorities were.  At first, I couldn't even answer the question.
Everything seemed important.  I had become so disconnected
from myself because all I could think about were the requests
being made of me and fulfilling all of my commitments.  All of
the sudden I realized I was taking care of everyone else and
everything else but myself.  For a short time I forgot who I
was.  I was saying yes to too many things.

It's hard to say no isn't it?  It's difficult to turn down
opportunities.  Opportunities for "good" jobs, great pay, fun
parties, intriguing projects.  It's also hard to let go of living
up to someone else's expectations.

So Hard To Say No

I have had too much on my plate the last couple weeks and
I had to take a step back.  Honestly, yesterday I almost
cried three times because the requests for my time kept
coming in and I couldn't keep up, but I expected myself to.
I didn't even have time to consider if I wanted to or needed
to.

Sometimes, and it's more often when you live in NYC, you
have to take a step back and assess all of your involvements.
You have to take a hard look at who you are and where you
are going.  Does everything you are involved in reflect or
bring you closer to your core values and life goals?  Are the
people you are giving your time to the people you really care
about and desire to invest your life in?

You MUST Stick To The Path!

In this life you will be pulled in a thousand directions.  If you
don't know where you are going, or you don't stick to the
path, your journey may not end up where you want it to.
Sometimes you have to let go of exciting opportunities; not
all opportunities, even if they are exciting, are in line with
what we want in life.  And sometimes we have to accept
that there are people who want things from us that we
can't fulfill, and they will be disappointed.  It is okay.

Take a deep breath today.  Figure out where you're going
and then think about all of the things you are trying to do.
Where can you let some things go?  Where must you let
things go in order to stay on your journey?

"I thought by going to Melissa I would get a few dieting tips, some
new recipes to try at home, maybe lose 2 or 3 pounds, and walk
away feeling pretty good about myself.  What I received from my
sessions with Melissa was so much more!  Melissa went to the root
of my "troubles" and concerns, she lead me to a place where I could
let go, forgive, and be more proactive about my dreams.  Since
Melissa, I have been dancing and performing more than ever and
feeling much more positive about my life and career.  I sought out
Melissa to lose five pounds yet, in the end, I wound up gaining so
much more than anticipated.  I have filled my life with so much
meaningful matter that craving healthy foods has come naturally and
I desire them in order to support my lifestyle.  My achieved weight
loss ended up being just an added bonus."  -CB, Dancer, NYC
