1. What Makes Your Heart Dance?

What makes your heart dance?

Are you doing it?

If not, why not?

Is it because you don't know what makes your heart
dance?

Is it because you are afraid that it's not legitimate,
because you are insecure about how it will look?
because you feel trapped in something else?
because you don't think you'll be good enough at it?
because you "grew up" and don't believe in fairy tales
anymore?
because you are afraid of the sacrifice it will require?

Something Personal

Can I share something with you? I don’t talk a lot about
the fact that I’m a Christian. Not because I am ashamed
of my belief that Christ is God, and that he is my savior,
but I am afraid of the stereotypes of others, and I am
afraid of being associated with some of the disrespectful
actions people do in the name of Christ, actions that are
not necessarily inspired by God. I’m afraid that people
will not get to know who I really am because they might
make an assumption based on who they think Christians
are.

But nevertheless, I am a Christian. And everything that I
stand for: pursuit of integrity with yourself and others,
the search for truth, the fight to be authentic in
everything you do - has been born from my faith in Christ.
It was my search for him that taught me and gave me the
freedom to embrace those things in life that “make my
heart dance.” He was the one who convicted me and
showed me that I was not living authentically, that I was
presenting a Melissa to those around me, and even to God,
as a person I thought I should be, or who others wanted
me to be. I was not being true to my own thoughts, ideas,
and feelings. I was so concerned with impressing everyone
else, or not sharing my real feelings for fear of hurting
someone else or losing their respect, that I didn’t even
know what I really thought and felt. It was God who
compelled me to get honest with myself.

Designed by an Artist?

You may not agree with me, but I believe that when we
were created, it was not simply a random design, but that
we were each given special talents and interests. I believe
that the things that make your heart dance are there for a
reason. They have a role in your life. Sometimes they are
there to help guide you through life. Sometimes they are
there in order to serve others. And I believe that sometimes
they are there simply as a gift from God to you, something
to simply bring joy to your world, just as a parent finds joy
in seeing their child laugh and play.

The ingeniousness of the design is that these gifts & talents
more often than not serve the purpose of all three of these
reasons at the same time.

So maybe you do have a purpose. And maybe it’s those
things that bring you joy that are a strong hint as to where
you fit in this world.

New Program for those who want to Explore from a
Christian Perspective

Because I have not done this yet, I wanted to offer a
program for individuals who would like to explore these ideas
from a spiritual/Christian perspective.

For those of you who want to pursue an understanding of
what you were designed for and/or you want to figure out
how to get out of where you are now so you can spend more
time expressing your talents and interests, I have created a
series of private sessions, including some time to pray, that
we can do this. If you are interested, please e-mail me:
Melissa@myheartdances.com (Christians and non-Christians
welcome)

Interested, but want a Modified Version?

If you are not a Christian, but would like to do a modified
version of this program, please contact me.

"For whatever reason, people are so inclined to spend
money on a health club membership and working out
their body, but when it comes to working on the mind
and emotions, people are more hesitant. I remember
the session that we had together and all of the advise
and direction that you provided was truly excellent.
You really made a very positive impact on my life and
I can tell that you are exceptionally gifted in this area.
You have a very intuitive sense and are able to put
all the pieces together very quickly and correctly.
These are very good skills for the type of coaching
that you do, and I hope that more people will see how
they can benefit from the coaching that you provide." - J.R.

3. Dancing, Dancing, Dancing

May 5
Forest Hills, Queens

Modern Jive is great fun, very easy to learn and danced to
the best music from 50s Rock ‘n’ Roll, through 70s disco, to
today’s pop. It is already extremely popular in Europe,
Australia and Canada where it is known as Ceroc, Rock ‘n’
Roll, Leroc, Rejive and many other names. But whatever you
call it, the principle is the same: Starting with just a few
moves and a little rhythm, after just one lesson you can
dance the night away. Your confidence is built very fast and
you’ll come back for more!

No partner necessary! During the classes we rotate often
so you get the chance to dance with everyone and say “Hi”
before open dancing begins.

More details on the May even to come. Save the date!
E-mail me if you would like more info.
