Keeping those New Year's Resolutions? If not, don't worry. I have some tips that will help you get back on track. If you are, good for you! These tips will ensure you reach your goals with success!
One challenge, with long term goals especially, is that we get overwhelmed or discouraged because we see the big picture, but we don't break down the details of how to get there.
One Step At A Time
Maybe your goal is to lose 20lbs, to find a new career, to travel more, or simply to increase your confidence and self-esteem. Once you've determined what you want, it's important to write down all the steps you think you will need to take in order to get there. The idea is to think bite size.
If you are 150lbs and your goal is to be 130, then this week’s goal can be to get to 149. If your goal is to find a new career, then this week's goal may be to research three careers that are interesting to you. Next week your goal might be to update your resume.
Schedule Time For Your Mini Goals
Now that you have your list of mini-steps, insert one into each week of your calendar. Know the specific step you are going to take, and make an appointment with yourself to do it. By the end of the year, who knows what you might accomplish!
Start with this week. What can you do this week to set you one step closer to your long term goal?
By doing this you will also be experiencing little rewards along the way. The satisfaction of completing the goal can give you the motivation to go to the next step for the next week!
