Never Give Up!
by Melissa King
October 17, 2005 My dad is a truck driver (bet you never knew that!) and my mom (mom is retired, dad is almost retired) has taken the opportunity to go on the road with my dad for a
month. Something great for me to see, because they don't get to spend nearly as much time together as most couples due to his job.
My mom is having a blast, and she is sending me post cards from all over the country. Along with one of these cards, she sent me an encouraging note I want to share with you.
I have been lucky to have parents who have been very supportive of me in following my dreams. And my mom has been there time and time again when I have fallen,
scraped my knees, and wondered if I would ever reach my goals.
Trials and Tribulations!
I am not unlike most of you. I have gone through many trials and tribulations, and continue to do so, in order to pursue what makes my heart beat fast. And my heart
has been broken many times, but fortunately it is repairable...
So...here's a quote my mom excerpted from a book for me. I am passing it on for those of you who may be discouraged, tired, or broken. I hope you enjoy.
"Youth is not entirely a time of life - it is a state of mind. It is not wholly a matter of ripe cheeks, red lips, or supple knees. It is a temper of wills, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions. Nobody grows old by merely living a number of years. People only grow old by deserting their ideals. You are as young as your self-confidence, as old as your fears, as young as your hopes, as old as your despair."
This world might scruff you up a bit, but you only grow old when you lose hope, excitement, and passion. Don't let a broken heart steal that from you...ever!
