Self Defense for Women
by Melissa King

Intimate violence is primarily a crime against women. In 1996, females were the victims of 3 out of every 4 intimate murders and about 85% of the victims of non-lethal intimate violence.

For years, we have been told by experts that we should not fight back - we should be passive and try not to anger a rapist. (The Department of Justice has recently released statistics that indicate passivity is no guarantee of safety; that it is best to fight back. This reverses decades of advice to remain passive.)

What would you do if you were in a situation where you might be assaulted?

Last week I told you that women hold their strength in their hips and thighs, and that women can kick with hundreds of pounds of force?

Prepare, Inc., a program I'm preparing to graduate from next week, teaches you to wield that power strategically.

They offer a 20hr. program designed specifically with the strengths of women in mind.

More Effective than Shorter Programs

I find it to be highly more effective than programs that are only a few hours in length. And now I have experienced both types of programs out there.

Prepare, Inc. trains you in the adrenaline state. The techniques are practiced in a way that that they become a part of your muscle memory. You also have many opportunities to fight with full force in realistic simulated scenarios.

Deal With The Psychological and The Verbal

Prepare, Inc. also gives you instruction on the psychological aspects of being approached or assaulted. This is very important because it helps counteract any tendency to freeze or fight in a way that only wastes your energy.

They teach you how to verbally deal with confrontation in a way that is likely to cause the assaulter to leave the situation before it escalates.

On the website testimonials are available from women who have been able to use the techniques they have learned in this class successfully in real world situations.

*All statistics and info were gained from my training with Prepare, Inc.

Let me know if you have any questions. I would be happy to share with you.
